Feature documentary
Germany / Austria / Israel / Palestinian Territories

„The First Sea“ follows Palestinian women and children on their first trip to the coast organized by Israeli women, where politically separated worlds temporarily find common ground. The reactions are as ambivalent as the conflict, for which the film shows two unusual protagonists: While Wafaa packs her bathing suit in anticipation, 13-year-old Raneen shouts Palestinian independence songs – and stays at home.
A film about the magic of first times, about borders, freedom and coexistence.
